Sunday School

One of my callings (yes, one of them) is to teach Sunday School. Since I lead a fairly busy life, sometimes I get to catch a glimpse or read a lesson through only once throughout the week, and even then it is just a skim. Not really one to make a bullet point lesson plan. I never really know how it is going to go, as I have to fill about 45 minutes of classroom discussion with limited preparation, just the guidlines, the scriptures, and my thoughts, and I am not exactly a public speaker. So I wing it, Jones style of course.

Somehow, miraculously, after the closing prayer is given, people trickle in with comments that I gave a really good lesson. When this first started, I would think they were just being nice, but as time goes by and people still send their compliments (different people each time), they seem so sincere and it makes me feel so good! But it also makes me feel good to teach people in the first place.

This morning after I said my morning prayer, I took a book off my bookshelf called "The Discourses of President Hinckley" which is about 2 1/2 inches thick. Immediately after I opened it (about halfway) it turned straight to a talk he gave to the Honolulu, Hawaii Mission, and then immediately after that one there was a talk given to the Young Single Adults in San Diego. I could hardly believe the coincidence- things that I read seemed perfectly arranged for my circumstances! Then, I wished that I had the talent of speaking candidly and always saying the right thing (that Pres Hinckely has). I really miss him.

I love the gospel!
