Em + Nate + Break = OK

(also posted on facebook)

Recently, my Nathan and I returned to close-distance relationshipping (after a 5 month period of long distance) to discover that the dynamic between us changed with the time apart. This is due to various factors, but mostly, the end result is that we found ourselves totally unprepared to meet one anothers exectations at this point. It hasn't been a dramatic break up or anything, just realized that we are on different pages, and the struggle to maintain pretenses of the past weighed heavily on each of us.

Do we still love and care for each other? Absolutely, as I am sure we always will. At this point, is it in our best interest to tie the knot? Absolutely not, as things are unclear in some ways, and we are not currently in an ideal place as a couple to make a marriage that lasts.

Of course, this can change as we make individual preparations for the future. The possibility of us getting back together depends on a lot of factors- and we are both taking a step back to assess our priorities, feelings, and decisions that we make individually. Two people making a life together requires some compromise and a lot of sacrafice- we respect one another and want what is best for the other. The most important thing is to be genuine and sincere in all decisions.

We are both doing fine, all things considered. This was a mutual decision, though difficult to make, and we are blessed for having the courage to do what is right by the Lord.
